“QUEENS — A new restaurant slated to open in Forest Hills in November, will feature burgers with twisted potatoes, hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry and baked on a stick, and chicken tenders wrapped in a waffle, the owner said.
The restaurant will offer a variety of its signature ‘smash’d burgers,’ including chipotle chicken, beef and short rib. There will also be a vegetarian option, made with black beans, carmelized onions, avocado and mango salsa.
“All of our burgers have the option of being on one of our buns or whole wheat wrap, which makes it more calorie friendly,” said Brianna Cano, the owner of the restaurant.
Customers will also be able to choose between organic Idaho potatoes and Japanese sweet potatoes.
Cano said she first ate twisted potatoes, cut with a special slicer, when she was in Ecuador a couple of years ago, and decided to bring the concept to her Forest Hills restaurant.
Toppings will include chipotle mayo, grilled mashrooms and sliced avocado.
The restaurant will also serve ground chicken tenders wrapped in a waffle and served on a stick with maple syrup, beef hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry and baked on a stick, and a couple of breakfast dishes, including scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese.
Cano said the restaurant won’t serve soda. Instead, it will offer a variety of lemonades and ice-teas.
For an average meal, which will include a burger with potato and drink, patrons will pay about $10, Cano said.”
